Who We Are

Social services need a radical transformation. That’s where we come in.

We are Connective: a dynamic team of creative problem solvers that coordinates disaster recovery programs and social services systems, guided by empathy, data, and devotion to accessibility.

We work hard to build seamless programs and systems alongside our partners in a way that incorporates the voices of community members and enhances their well-being.

Our team has come to Connective equipped with skills and knowledge related to advocacy, social services, data science, design, disaster recovery, education, entrepreneurship, healthcare, housing, legal aid, management consulting, migration, refugee resettlement, architecture, the military, product management, public policy, social work, and technology.

These experiences shape how we approach complex challenges, integrate community needs and ideas into our work, and make social services more connected.

Our Story

Our mission began in 2017, in the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey. The storm exposed deep fragmentation in how disaster recovery services and social service nonprofits delivered care—highlighting the urgent need for coordination among disaster recovery organizations. We saw too many neighbors falling through the cracks, and too many social service nonprofits working in isolation, without shared tools or support from coordinating bodies such as the Office of Emergency Management or United Way.

So we got to work.

We began by listening: to service providers, case managers, and community members. Then we started building. We developed tools and platforms that made it easier to collaborate across agencies, geographies, and systems.

And then we kept growing: through COVID, through recovery, and into a broader network that now stretches beyond Houston.

Today, we partner with local nonprofits, disaster recovery organizations, and public safety departments to streamline referrals, responsibly share data, and remove access barriers across the system for the people we serve. We’re also connecting with peer disaster response and disaster recovery organizations across the country to share knowledge, improve systems, and scale community-driven solutions.
