Frequently Asked Questions

Who should fill out the survey?

Anyone that the crisis has impacted should fill out the survey. Registering your impacts and needs will help local nonprofits and funders ensure funding and disaster programs serve those needing the most help.

What is the Connective Disaster Survey?

The Connective Disaster Survey is designed to capture the impacts and needs of a crisis in our community. Survey results are shared with decision-makers and nonprofits so that our community can advocate for more resources more quickly. The Connective Disaster Survey is deployed on behalf of the Harris County Long-Term Recovery Committee (HCLTRC), also known as Harris County Recovers.

Why should I fill out the survey?

Our community is large, making understanding who’s been impacted and how pretty difficult. This survey is designed to eliminate multiple surveys, connect impacted residents to resources as they come online based on their reported needs, and help inform local funders about where recovery funding should go. You can also sign up for Connective Texts when you fill out the survey, a free texting program that shares valuable information about resources as they come online after a disaster in our community. By completing the survey, you may be more quickly connected to those needed services.

Will I get help if I fill out the survey?

The Connective Disaster Survey is not an application for assistance. By reporting your needs, you help local nonprofits and funders make better decisions and advocate for more resources for our community. However, filling out the survey and telling us your needs enable us to follow up with resources based on your responses as those services become available.

Who has access to my survey data?

You control your data! At the bottom of the survey, you will be asked if and how you want your data shared. By allowing us to share your information with local organizations, we can send that data to organizations that meet your immediate and long-term needs. By allowing us to share your data with the Harris County Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Management (HCOHSOEM), we can secure important disaster declarations for our community faster, enabling federal emergency dollars to deploy quickly. We will not share your data with anyone without your permission.

Where can I see the survey data?
